The Scope of the Conference
“Rhythm is an expansion of the elements that are part of the duration. In the visual arts, however, it is the way space is reconfigured to show the inner music of the individual. Rhythm is the pulse of colors, shapes or matter that appears in the appropriate time in the visual space. It can be slow, vivid, irregular, homogeneous and heterogeneous. Also, it is the basis of the etymological and topological legitimacy of images. Rhythm reveals the basic structure that is the existential structure of images. Yet, it may not be so »
In the same context, rhythm regulates the durations of sounds in music, supporting its process and layers of its hierarchy to deliver an expressive discourse based on harmony and dissonance, on stillness and sound. Even in the freest melodies (Adlib), the rhythm does not disappear, but rather its presence takes a random, regular shape
Cinema does not differ in the interactions of the image and music, but also indulges in the manifestations of rhythm to imbue the viewer with sensory interactions that oscillate between tension and calm. The speedier the rhythm of scenes is, the more action and nervousness are aroused in the audience. When scenes are slowed down, a sense of calm, tranquility and peace is added: a rhythm that evinced feelings contradicted the cinematic discourse and coordinated our vision of the work
Rhythm was linked to the discursive foundations of audio and visual arts and interacted with the painter’s brush, the player’s brush, and the designer’s digital brush: the result is one and the effect is one, yet the production is diverse and multiple
This propels us to ask the following questions
- Where and what role can rhythm play in the work of art
- Is the absence of rhythm in the work of art considered a defect or a vision
- What are the means of determining and analyzing rhythm in artistic works
- To what extent can the work of art be related to rhythm
- How can rhythm be taught in the Audio and Visual Arts
Objectives of the conference
The conference seeks to achieve the following objectives
- Paving the way for serious artistic research and studies that offer a set of theoretical conceptualizations of art and its characteristics
- Evincing the reality of rhythm in the audio and visual arts and its creative manifestations
- Churning out the roots of defects and manifestations of rhythmic disturbance in artistic creativity
- Knowing the challenges meeting the researcher and theorist in identifying and analyzing rhythmic manifestations
*Checking the extent to which artistic discourse is related to rhythmic regularity.
The importance of the topic
The importance of the suggested topic lies in
- Presenting different points of related to the subject of rhythm, art, and current creative issues

- Attempting to unite researchers in the various arts around a single problem and calling for intellectual cross-fertilization and an exchange of knowledge about rhythm
- Broaching seriously the subject suggested in the scientific arena
- The topic combines two opposites in raising the issue of rhythm in terms of its impact on the audio and visual arts, either present or absent
