Abstract:
The aim of this research is to center on innovation and creativity in tertiary education in Algeria. These two cognates, though different in meaning, constitute the two sides of the same coin, that is a successful teaching methodology based on change and progress. Innovation and creativity are essential to progress and doing away with the old shibboleths. The world is witnessing changes in all domains- one of which is education- at an uncontrolable pace due to swift technological advances. Teachers are supposed to cope with the twenty first century pedagogy that tends for an innovative and a creative way of teaching. The questions of this paper are : What is the teaching approach that teachers should adopt ? Do they adopt technological tools to their teaching only, or do they introduce learners to participate in the teaching process as well ? Renown scholars like William Glasser advises teachers to use the Choice Theory in class to allow the students to particpate and be contributive, cognitive and meta cognitive.
