Introduction
“To have another language is to possess a second soul”
Multilingual education is the use of two or more languages as mediums of instruction or being fluent in multiple (more than two) languages competently.
There has been an increase in discussion around the role of multilingualism in education as it can benefit all learners not only academically, but also cognitively, socially, and linguistically across the lifespan.
Supporting multilingualism in the classroom can be a valuable pedagogical practice with positive effects on students’ academic performance, as well as social and emotional well-being whether in a passive way by allowing students to use their home language, or a more active way by implementing teaching and learning practices that draw on more than one language
Main Objectives of the Workshop
