The Scope of the Conference

Nutrition and diets

Nutrition and diets are two related concepts associated with food consumption and dietary patterns, aiming to improve overall health and well-being. However, there are some subtle differences between them

Nutrition refers to the comprehensive process of food intake and the nutrients the body needs to maintain vital functions and good health. It includes essential nutritional components such as carbohydrates, proteins, fats, vitamins, minerals, and fiber, which should be consumed in balanced and appropriate amounts to meet the body’s needs

On the other hand, a diet (or dietary plan) is a specific eating plan designed to achieve certain goals, such as weight loss, managing a specific condition, or enhancing general health. Diets vary in types and requirements, focusing on reducing or increasing the consumption of a certain food group, controlling calorie intake, or balancing nutritional components.

The focus on nutrition and following healthy diets aims to achieve several benefits, including

  • Improving overall health and preventing diseases: Consuming a balanced and nutritious diet provides the necessary nutrients to support bodily functions and maintain organ and system health, which helps prevent chronic diseases such as heart disease, diabetes, and cancer
  • Weight control and calorie management: Proper diets can assist in losing excess weight or maintaining a healthy weight by controlling calorie intake and balancing nutritional components
  • Enhancing physical and mental performance: Healthy food intake boosts energy, attention, and focus, while also aiding in strength, flexibility, and overall physical ability
  • Boosting the immune system: Healthy dietary plans contain immune-strengthening nutrients such as vitamins, minerals, and fiber, which enhance immune health and reduce the risk of diseases

Healthy diets should align with individual needs and specific health conditions. It is advisable to consult a qualified nutrition specialist to determine the appropriate diet within health standards.

The focus should be on long-term comprehensive and balanced nutrition rather than drifting towards extreme or restrictive diets. Diets should be sustainable and include a variety of healthy foods

In the end, nutrition and diets are essential aspects of maintaining good health and preventing diseases. It is important to develop healthy eating habits and maintain the proper balance of nutritious foods to maximize the benefits of food and preserve your body’s health

The main problem: –

Nutrition and diets face some challenges and problems that prevent them from achieving their full potential. There may be insufficient public awareness of the importance of therapeutic nutrition and its health benefits, and specialists in this field may face challenges in guiding individuals towards changing their eating habits. In addition, stakeholders may face challenges in developing new research and technologies to promote therapeutic nutrition

That is why Ibb University – Vice Deanship of Graduate Studies and Scientific Research and the University’s College of Medicine and Health Sciences, in partnership with the Arab Democratic Center, Berlin, Germany, is holding this conference to highlight the knowledge gaps in the field of nutrition and diets, which require additional efforts and providing the necessary capabilities to bridge them, through work. Collaboration between researchers and academic institutions.
