Abstract:
Heritage is a collection of meaningful elements that establishes the identity of each human group and helps to differentiate them from each other. It is a set of tangible or immaterial goods, of organized knowledge, which are elaborated, transmitted, transformed on a given territory. It is thus an inexhaustible concept; it constitutes the identity of a country, a group or an individual. Its valuation is a widely expressed issue, it is conceived in a broad and open-ended approach, and represents a real potential for development. It thus becomes an important goal of contemporary society, because it is the means to satisfy a certain number of needs related to aesthetic, artistic and even of leisure dimensions. Heritage is therefore a source of values. The production of such values implies very important economic movements that must not be neglected. This then leads us to think about and contribute to a current and future debate related to the role of heritage in tourism and to the approach of tourism promotion.
